A LITTLE TASTE OF HEAVEN

I was in the kitchen making vegetable soup (typical Nigerian lady duties – so they say) when my phone rang, my friend called to tell me she saw a picture of this really yummy monster shakes from Dessert Pit I retweeted on twitter (lol na the work wey I dey do for twitter) and she wanted us to check out the place (lol I have nice friends who like to take me out sometimes), left to her she wanted us to go there ASAP because of how catchy the picture was. Unfortunately, I had to inform her I was busy, that lets reschedule for the coming weekend.

The following weekend, we got dolled up and headed for the Dessert Pit located at No 66, Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent Wuse 2, it’s beside Mikano generators directly opposite Zenith ATM gallery, if you know 4U supermarket formerly known as Amigos it’s on that lane. The place wasn’t difficult to find because it’s directly opposite the Zenith bank ATM gallery as they said on their twitter page but a sign post outside would have been superb for easier identification.

When we got into the compound, we noticed there was a suya spot and other stuff around so you have to look to your right and you will see a post with “Dessert Pit” on one of the doors, I’m guessing that’s why there wasn’t a post at the gate (dunno just a guess). When we walked in, the first thing that caught my attention was the African art works; I really loved them. They also had Ankara patterned seats with African styled furniture in natural wood colour and clay.

There wasn’t anybody else around when we arrived but few people started to arrive later on.  I blame the cold weather, people would rather be indoors (lol cuddling maybe). I ordered the Oreo Monster shake and my friend ordered for the Strawberry Monster shake. After we placed our orders, we went to their sit-out area outside to chill because guess what! There wasn’t light (Lol Naija O!).  For the first time I preferred the indoor area because the décor was mad but the no light issue drove us outside where breeze was blowing us. The outside had this thatch roof setting with trees around, it was pretty cool for taking pictures too.
Our shakes took about 25 minutes to arrive. Hay God! My shake was really yummy; the arrangement was dope. At the top of the shake was an Oreo cookie with a layer of whipped cream with marshmallows plastered on it followed by 2 chunks of brownies with chocolate syrup dripping down before you now finally get the the Oreo shake. I love chocolate anything so I thoroughly enjoyed my shake. My friend’s shake was also nice but she preferred mine after having a taste.

I was surprised when the waitress brought the bill and there was no service charge or VAT, they just charged us for the shakes. Other than the no light issue I had a wonderful time, so I’m going to rate them as follow:

Ambience:         8/10
Service:             8/10
Price:                 9/10
Food:                 10/10
