A Sunday to Remember
SURPRISE! This is my 10th story on this blog. Thank you so much guys, I really do appreciate you all for the love and support. So here is today's foodie gist. After church on this glorious Sunday morning, I really wasn’t feeling the vibe of being home and eating the usual and typical Nigerian Sunday afternoon lunch (we ALL know it as white rice and stew) So I called a friend of mine that we love to explore places together, and informed her of my predicament, she suggested we try out Uncle D’s restaurant since it wasn’t far from both our houses (thank God sha no need to remove makeup).
The restaurant is located at 85 Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja. On arriving, I have to say that I loved the motto on the restaurant 's logo which says, "Celebrating food", was really nice. the interior is great, very well lit, different sitting styles and arrangement. the waiter took some time to attend to us as I guess they had just started service for the day by the time we arrived. Surprisingly, the cook had to double as the waiter. After going through the menu, we ordered the Combo meal which comes with rice, chicken, salad, and a drink. So I ordered jollof rice, spicy chicken, and 5 Alive apple and a pineapple milkshake for good measure, while my friend ordered for fried rice, barbeque chicken, and a 5 Alive orange.
Our meal took about 25 minutes to come, during that period, we discussed on some things and then discovered that we could see our meal being prepared because of the see-through glass in the kitchen area; which allows you see what happens from your sit. During the course of preparing the meal, the waiter or should I say the cook or chef had to come and confirm the kind of chicken because he didn't take the order of the kind of chicken we wanted beforehand. With time, other staff started to come in allowing more hands attend to other customers.
The meal was great, I was enjoying the chicken until I noticed it has some little blood in it, which I must say was an immediate turn off, the milkshake however était superbe (pardon ma français). As I was eating, another customer's food (chicken grilled salad) arrived, to be honest, I was drooling at the sight of the food that I decided that next time I come there, I must have that (That's how the Foodie in me will just be disgracing me in public - LOL). The salad looked so amazing that my friend noticed I was just looking at the gentleman's meal and had to draw my attention back to our conversation. Nearly forgot, they have functional WiFi, just ask any of their staff and they will provide you with the access code. On that note, here is my personal review of the restaurant:
Ambience: 7/10
Food: 6/10 (would have been higher if not for the blood in the chicken)
Price: 8/10
Service: 6/10
