Breakfast of Champions

On Friday, my friend called me that he wanted us to do breakfast at The Charcoal Grill Restaurant & Coffee Lounge located at the roof top of KFC located at Penthouse, 112 Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja close to Glo office (mind you that’s one of my favourite Abuja restaurant) and of course I obliged.

When I got to the building the following day, there was a nice security man seated at the door to open and close for customers. The interior décor was nice, and really cool. As I walked into the restaurant, I noticed my friend was already seated at the indoor area seeing as he arrived before me, you guys already know I prefer outdoor anywhere. The outdoor area is more beautiful compared to the indoor; it has a roof top setting you get to have a glimpse of what’s happening outside, so when you get to visit Charcoal don’t be like me drag your date outside and enjoy the ambience. (He is my friend ohh not my date, I know some of you will start wondering who he is)

The waitress was nice, cordial and welcoming. We both ordered the full English breakfast with hot chocolate and the complimentary orange juice (lol na me do the copy copy – seems like he knows the breakfast here well well). I will be honest, times must have really changed because during my previous visits I was served a complimentary bowl of popcorn while I waited for my meal but that wasn’t the case this time around, I can’t really blame them sha; country is hard. Sigh I miss that popcorn it was really yummy.

Our hot cup of chocolate didn’t take long to arrive, it was really creamy and a sweet delight I just wanted more. The full English breakfast and orange juice arrived about 5 minutes later (which I must say was in good time). The breakfast tray contained 4 pancakes, sliced hotdogs, bacons, scrambled eggs, baked beans and honey. The orange juice was chilled and nice.

My friend observed that we were supposed to be served some toast points (na just fancy name for toasted bread) but we weren’t, which led to a little dispute. In order to resolve our mini argument, I suggested he called the waitress to clarify, and to my disappointment (e pain say I lose sha) he was right, the waitress just forgot to bring it when she brought the other stuff, she apologised and offered to bring it when we were almost done but we asked her not to worry. This is one of my favourite places so I will just let this one slide. The whole meal was tasty and really filling, I couldn’t even finish it all. So in summary;

Ambience:        8/10
Service:            7/10
Price:                8/10
Food:                9/10
