My Spooky Italian Experience
Happy New
Month guys!! Thanks for your continuous support since I began this foodie journey, the reviews I have received have been positive, some criticisms but only to help make this journey better for both you and me. Would only be nice, if I could ask if you could leave some comments on any post you read, so we can engage
here rather than another platform (for those that happen to know me – LOL) This is our blog so we need to grow it
together. On that note, let me tell you how I went to one Italian restaurant.
When to meet one of my fashion designer friends in Maitama, had a wedding coming up, and she does make amazing dresses. I had to slay for this wedding oh (aunty gatz find cute uncle now, can’t come and dull myself biko). Unfortunately, I happened to go to her place on Friday afternoon (one of my big mistakes). As I was leaving her place, I ran into a traffic jam on Limpopo Street on the way to the farmers market there in Maitama, while in the traffic I realized that the Muslim faithful had just finished Friday prayers from the mosque and were leaving which primarily was the cause of the hold up. While in the car, I was getting hungry, quickly called my friend and told her about the traffic jam issue and my hungry state and she mentioned I should go to Cantina Restaurant since I’m not far from there.
On arriving
at the restaurant, located at 30 Yedseram Cres, Maitama, Abuja (it
shares a compound with Sinclair Guest House), I was impressed with the interior
of the place, has a very spacious indoor area which I wasn’t expecting to be
honest, and it has a nice outdoor area between the restaurant and the guest
house building, some sweet Italian music playing to settle you into the Italian
vibe, sadly after a while the music stopped playing and the place was quiet as
f**k. The waiters and waitresses are also well dressed, noticed it was kinda
like a slow day because I was the only one at the restaurant from the time I arrived
till I left (maybe their market na for evening or night time). After going
through the menu, I ordered beef skewers with fries and a bottle of water.
While waiting for my meal to arrive, I was given bread and butter as an appetizer on the house (at least mouth go dey do something in the time being). Thank God for my
phone that was helping to keep me distracted of the quiet environment I found
myself. The meal took about 25 minutes to arrive, the waiter was kind to
provide me with ketchup and chili sauce (my various brand was what they had -
sweet), the beef was well done I must said (you may need to request for a steak
knife to help with cutting of the meat), the fries were okay but not as crisp
as I like them. In general, it was a nice experience trying out an Italian cuisine
(I hope it was), I was extremely full after eating for the amount I paid. To be
honest, I had to rush my food and pay so I could leave the quiet environment as
it was getting me spooky, plus I also had things to do. In summary, I would
rate the restaurant as follows:
Ambience: 5/10(would have been higher if not for the quiet environment)
Service: 7/10
Price: 7/10
Food: 8/10More pictures...
