OJUELEGBA: A TOUCH OF LAGOS IN ABUJA

My bestie promised to take me to Ojuelegba Amala Point located in Gwarinpa for lunch because we have both being craving their food after all the reviews we have being getting from people about the place. The night before I asked a friend to recommend a Yoruba meal to try after stating I didn’t want something too oily (Yoruba people and ofe mmanu things), so he recommended pounded yam with efo riro.

The next day I got dressed and headed to my bestie’s place (lol if I don’t go to her place to ginger her to get ready on time, its gonna be a long thing (as guys will say, we ladies can waste time; my bestie is one of them ohh - LOL). On our way to the bukka, we vibed to some 2006-07 songs in the car that reminded us of our secondary school days then we missed the route my bestie was familiar with (all because of music oh – SMH), na so we begin dey ask random people for direction. Lol that’s how one guy got into the car with the “I will direct you girls, we are going the same way” yarn (this is somebody that was giving us shit description before 2 guys came to our rescue); it was too funny because my friend kept telling him not to enter but nigga sharply sat down (na she cause this wahala, and it didn’t occur to us to use Google Map on our phones). The thing that annoyed me the most was when my friend was trying to enter into a major road he kept shouting “enter na’. (Like is it his car? Is it his fuel? Is it his road?)

The bukka is hidden amidst a block factory just opposite Danjan Plaza located in 1st Avenue, Gwarinpa, Abuja, the building looks quite ancient with the net doors and zinc roofing Lol. The environment was pretty clean compared to Iya Oyo. From the entrance, I just dey snap pictures, I’m sure people were wondering “what is wrong with this one”. I wasn’t expecting the queue we met when we arrived, (Thank God oh, it wasn’t crazy like the one I met at Iya Oyo the other day) I mean, I thought people wont be many there because na Sunday now people suppose dey their house dey chop white rice and stew but who am I kidding no be only me like good thing. For you guys that don’t have time to queue they offer delivery services now.

The lady that attended to us was a bit rude and absent minded (that shit can piss me off), I had to repeat what I wanted severally; I remember telling her I wanted cow tail with my meal and she came back to ask if I wanted beef or assorted meat, I ordered efo riro, little stew plus assorted meat with one wrap of pounded yam, and a bottle of water while my friend ordered jollof rice, a little efo riro by the side with fish. To be honest, I was shocked with how much I enjoyed my meal, I was so impressed with the efo riro; it had little red oil with enough vegetables. My friend’s jollof rice was tasty, I had to taste it, the aroma was inviting. Other than that annoying lady that served us, I had a really nice time.
