The Impromptu waka
I beeped my bestie on a Friday to
see if she would be home the next day. She wasn’t going to be home because she
had a colleague’s nephew’s birthday party to attend at City Park located on Ahamdu Bello Way, Wuse II, Abuja. I
agreed to accompany her because, I mean, who doesn’t like party jollof? After
the party rounded up, we took a stroll through the park and my friend suggested
we go to CrazyPeople Cocktails Bar (located near the tennis court) for drinks,
because she needed to unwind after a stressful week at work. There were few
people around when we got there and a few more showed up later.
I ordered a Pina Colada cocktail
while my friend ordered Ribena on Steroids. I really like the creativity behind
the names of the drinks and the way they were arranged on the menu. It took
about twenty minutes for our cocktails to arrive because the waitress was quite
slow and sluggish; even when we asked for the bill, it was wahala; the waitress
disappeared and reappeared ten whole minutes later.
The Pina Colada was nice and had
just the right blend of cream and rum. I liked the stainless bowl the Ribena on
steroids came in, it was unique, although, my friend thought it looked weird. I
had a taste of the Ribena on steroids and I can confirm the taste was great. Just
beside Joey’s Cocktail Bar sits Keje’s Grill, I don’t know if there is some
sort of partnership but you can order something to eat from them, to accompany
your drink from the bar.
The ambience is cool and it’s a
nice place to chill and have drinks with friends. Other than the slow waitress,
I had a great time and I would definitely visit soon because there are a lot of
drinks on the menu I definitely want to try.
